“The Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children has helped my family, and it provides an opportunity for me to support other parents throughout their dyslexia parenting journey. I hope to help other parents identify dyslexia early, because early intervention saves a child’s self-esteem.”

The Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children envisions a world where every child is a learner empowered to reach their full potential. Whether you’re a parent, educator, or advocate, you’re now part of a community driving change. You can help address the double disparity of unaddressed dyslexia and racism.

Together, we can eliminate the amplified inequities for Black children experiencing dyslexia.

Reading proficiency by the end of 3rd-grade is a key predictor of high school graduation. Only 10% of Black 4th-grade boys living below the poverty line are at a 4th-grade reading level or higher (source: U.S. Department of Education).

Black students are less likely to receive a dyslexia diagnosis and get the support they need. Let’s change this.
